The "Donate a Bike" Initiative
This bright idea was prompted by TFMC's sponsorship and active participation in the Rally to Read campaign in May each year. The campaign involves sponsors visiting schools in the remote rural areas of our country, to donate study materials to the learners and their teachers. An employee who visited the schools for the first time in the year past was heartbroken to see little children having to walk between 15 and 30ks to school in the extremely cold winter weather. It makes us appreciate how privileged we are, in comparison to those who are without the facilities we take for granted.
In a practical demonstration of leading by example, Rob Redaelli, Director: Business Intelligence Unit, has donated not one but two bikes. They were not in top working order, so Rob had them repaired and restored to their original state as you can see.
Rob's hope is that the learners who ride these bikes will be our future engineers or great leaders!
Maud says: -
Let us all join in together and help those disadvantaged learners in the remote rural outskirts of our Provinces.
Should you in the Regions have any bikes to donate, contact your Regional Transformation Forum Chairperson or contact Maud .
Maud makes a passionate plea: Let's begin the race to bring in those bikes! Don't wait to be the last one to donate. NER has already started collecting and so has Head Office. What about you? What are you waiting for? Start asking your neighbours, your brothers, your sisters, uncles, aunts, oupas, and oumas to assist. Let us demonstrate the spirit of sharing (Kabelo), Ubuntu and so forth.
This Project cannot and will not be a roaring success unless, as an individual, you make a conscious decision that you want to be part of this superior and grand generous effort!
