TFMC supports Kosie de Wet school.

TFMC recently paid for and organised renovations for Kosie de Wet school in the Western Cape.

The School has 1302 learners and 37 teachers who hail from Goniwe Park and surrounding farms. Current school fees for Kosie de Wet are R80 per year, per child. Only 16% of these fees have been accounted for this year so far, which means no funds are available for renovations or any requirements over and above the absolute necessities.

Government grants provide each family with a total amount of R180 per month per child, money which must be used to feed, clothe and look after the children. School fees on top of this tend to put too much of a financial strain on these parents.

The teachers at Kosie de Wet, together with the school principal, frequently hold functions in the hope of raising funds for the school, but these functions rarely cover the overall need.

TFMC heeded the school's call for help and assisted with the renovation and upgrading of the boys's and girls's bathrooms, for both junior and senior learners, and all the classroom doors were also replaced with new ones.

In a heart-warming gesture of gratitude to TFMC, the learners and the teachers assembled at the school ground and entertained their guests with music and dance items. The learners even sang a song especially written for TFMC.

Maud Poopedi, head of Corporate Social Initiatives at TFMC, cut a ribbon to officially open the new renovated and improved bathrooms and classroom doors. TFMC was then issued with a certificate, as a sign of appreciation. Amongst the invited guests were the TFMC Western Region representatives who were all involved in making this project a success.

We so appreciate the time and effort put in by our Western Region staff. Without them, we could never have pulled off a project of this nature. Maud said. TFMC is glad to be involved in uplifting initiatives such as these, and we hope all the children at Kosie de Wet are enjoying their new facilities.
