Central Region doing their part for the Community

On Our first visit, there stood Bokong Edu Care, a sad and isolated sandstone barn with no sign of life. As we got closer we could hear and feel the energy of the toddlers and their teachers who were carrying on with their normal chores. One thing was certain, the building was in urgent need of renovation.

The creche was founded by Susan, who has extended her services by providing counselling to the members of the community, assisting them go through their substance rehabilitation processes. Due to the lack of material aids, Susan relies on spiritual teachings to rehabilitate those in need.

TFMC provided the funds to see the project through. A local building contractor joined in, to remodel the building. The play area was shaded, new pre-school size mattresses were brought to the school, heaters and fans were provided. A pre-school is nothing without bright-coloured tables and chairs, which were brought in and set up to complete the project.

On the day the creche was re-opened, the Central Region staff brought baskets full of recreational toys for the toddlers, who most probably would not have toys of their own at home. There was one more surprise for the children: stationery, which was donated by the Central Region staff for the "little Einsteins" to start scribbling their view of the world.

The day would not have been complete without some fun and games. By incorporating some of the new toys and apparatus, a small obstacle course was created and all children took turns. We made the children scream at the top of their voices and clap as they tackled the obstacles. Aristotle himself once said, "There was never a genius without a tincture of madness". On completion, each child was rewarded with a balloon, cake and a cool-drink.

Throughout the day the children were smiling from ear to ear, and that was the most gratifying experience for all adults present.
